An update from our Managing Director

June 2, 2020

In March we took the difficult decision to temporarily close our construction sites, offices and Visitors Centres.  We did this to protect the health and wellbeing of our teams, customers and local communities, and to support the Government’s aim to slow the spread of coronavirus and protect the NHS.

Since then, we have been working hard, behind the scenes, on our plans to resume construction and sales activity in the safest way possible.

We have not rushed into taking these steps and they do not mean an immediate return to business as usual. In the weeks and months ahead, we will need to adjust to new ways of working and ensure that everything we do meets new standards and regulations. This will take time, but nothing will ever be more important to us that everyone’s safety.

Construction sites

Our construction teams are now slowly starting to return to work across our sites in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.  In recent weeks, our site management teams have done a brilliant job of implementing new safety and social distancing measures to make this possible and to keep our colleagues, customers and local residents safe.  I want to thank them for their diligence and how they have responded to these extraordinary circumstances, working tirelessly to ensure a safe working environment for everyone.

In the coming weeks, we will be monitoring access to the site and carefully managing all visitors, including deliveries, to protect everyone working there as well as the local community.

Visitors Centres and viewings

I am really proud to say, we have now launched virtual tours across all our live sites.  This is allowing buyers to view our show homes and continue the search for their next property from the comfort of their own living rooms.  The speed at which our teams developed these tours and adapted to this new normal to deliver the same high standard of customer service has been truly remarkable. Thanks to them, several customers who were mid-purchase when lockdown began have been able to complete the process online, and others have now made online reservations following virtual tours.

From this week, our Visitors Centres and show homes will begin to reopen with new safety and social distancing measures in place. Viewings will be by appointment only and without a member of our team present.  This is to limit social contact and make the experience as safe as possible, but we’ll always be on hand to answer your questions.  For full details of the safety precautions in place and a step-by-step guide through how the reservation process will work, please contact a member of the team.

We continue to encourage all interested buyers to complete a virtual tour before considering a trip to one of our developments. All our tours use real imagery rather than CGIs and you can still get up close to all of the fixtures and fittings that are included as standard.  I know it’s a bit new to all of us, so do have a read of this new blog from our Sales & Marketing Director, Denise Stewart, or head over to the LiveChat feature on our website if you have any queries about how they work.

We will continue to monitor the Government advice and keep you up to date with any changes to our plans.  In the meantime, our teams are still available by phone, email or LiveChat, and are more committed than ever to delivering the best for our customers and residents – so please do get in touch if you have questions, big or small.

Finally, I want to say a sincere thank you to all of our colleagues, partners, suppliers and friends, for their hard work, support and kindness during the past couple of months – it has truly been appreciated.

John Allan
