On Sunday 20th May, several employees and their children from Legal & General Homes took part in the Crowthorne Reduce Our Waste (C.R.O.W) Big Community Litter Pick, supported by Bracknell Forest Council.
C.R.O.W is an organisation who encourage community members to collaboratively take part in their mission to make Crowthorne a cleaner, greener place to live.
Helpers from the community gathered at Morgan Recreational Ground, Crowthorne. Georgie from C.R.O.W prepared the groups and gave guidance on three planned routes around the area. After a safety briefing, equipment was distributed and everyone dispersed to the surrounding areas, ready to clean up the village.
Georgie from C.R.O.W who organised the event commented “Overall 124 bags of litter were collected along with a TV, a fire extinguisher, two broken traffic cones, a broken sledge, a tyre and bits of rubber off a car!”
Over 100 volunteers took part throughout the event including cubs, brownies, church groups, registered litter pickers, and various members of the local community ranging across all ages.
The litter pick greatly increased community pride whilst raising awareness about waste, and promoting the importance of looking after the local areas.
