Take advantage of the Government’s temporary cut in Stamp Duty

Legal and General Homes Moving

July 8, 2020

Looking to purchase a new home?

As of today, you will benefit from the temporary cut to Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) announced by the Government, meaning that buying your dream home could be more attainable than you think.

This new scheme will run until April 2021 but why not search for your new home now across our developments in Berkshire and Oxfordshire, some of which are ready to move into now.

How does it work?

If you purchase a home under £500,000, you will pay no SDLT.

Where the purchase price is over £500,000, you will still save on the stamp duty up to this amount and will pay stamp duty above this amount at the usual amount.

For example, from today:

Property value

SDLT rate

 Up to £500,000  0%
(3% for second homes or investors)
 The next £425,000
(the portion from £500,001 to £925,000)
 5%
(8% for second homes or investors)

In addition, you may also be eligible for Help to Buy, enabling you to buy a home with as little as a 5% deposit.  Many of our properties are also available with Part Exchange and Assisted Move.

What’s available with no stamp duty?

  • At Buckler’s Park in the leafy village of Crowthorne, just outside of Bracknell, we offer high-quality and contemporary homes set within over 100 acres of parkland and open space, including the new Buckler’s Forest.
For under £500,000 and therefore free from any stamp duty, you can buy a three-bedroom home such as the Ealing, a contemporary and spacious property set over three floors with a separate study.  It also has a good-sized garden and a separate terrace.
  • At Finchwood Park in the sought-after village of Finchampstead in Berkshire, over half of the development is devoted to public, green space, while a new primary school and community facilities are also planned.
There are a number of three-bedroom homes available for under £500,000 at Finchwood Park, including the Ashford.  This three-storey family home has a bright and airy spacious living/dining room with bifold doors leading on to the garden.
  • At Cross Trees Park in picturesque Shrivenham, Oxfordshire, traditionally-styled homes with modern facilities sit alongside 13 acres of green space, with a range of community amenities, including a new primary school, planned.
Homes available at Cross Trees Park for under £500,000, include the three-bedroom Chadwell home.  With a versatile study/playroom on the ground floor and separate living room and kitchen, this home has plenty of space for the whole family.

Virtual tours are available at all three developments, and our showhomes can be visited by appointment.
