The festive season was in full swing at Buckler’s Park on Sunday, with our Magic of Christmas event celebrating the start of the holiday period. Attendees clad in Santa hats were guided around the new 100-acre woodland by forest ranger Conrad Taylor who pointed out the diverse range of wildlife and plantlife that can be spotted on site, and explained how this landscape thrives in every season.
On return to the Buckler’s Park Visitor Centre, now complete with a spectacular snow window display, everyone was greeted with a warming mug of hot chocolate and mince pies. Spirits were high, with locals from Crowthorne and residents of Buckler’s Park meeting and chatting – helping to create what was a magical Christmas event. Some who will soon be living at Buckler’s Park also came along – they told us it was a great introduction to their new home and they can’t wait to move in and enjoy the place every day.
It is little wonder they were so excited, Buckler’s Forest was looking its best throughout the sunny winter’s morning. It was great to see so many people, enjoying the fresh air and getting into the Christmas spirit, as well as learning about how we are supporting biodiversity and encouraging a broad range of species to thrive. We hope this event started some real friendships and gave potential residents a glimpse into life at this flourishing community.
Conrad runs tours of Buckler’s Forest every month and we’d love to see you there. The next ones take place on Sunday 5 January and Sunday 2 February 2020: click here for details.
